George Morrissey

George was born in Florida to an Air Force Family, with one other sister and plenty of miniature schnauzers around. He lived and traveled with his family’s Air Force Career in Virginia, Alabama, Hawaii, and settling in Las Vegas. His father was a West Point Graduate and spent 22 years in the Air Force retiring as a Lt. Col. His dad began working as a salesman in the Real Estate business in the late 1960’s under Jack Matthews – a local Broker who set many positive trends in Las Vegas. Col. Morrissey also began buying some rental houses, and over the years acquired a valuable portfolio. Young George saw many of these houses attending showings, cleanup, and even an eviction or two over the years growing up. Getting his first rental property in 1975 George has been involved in acquiring, renting, and helping Clients ever since. George attended Western High School joining the band playing cornet, the National Honor Society, and helping the tennis team win the Nevada State Tennis Championship – twice. He was awarded the Outstanding Teenager of the Year for the Entire State of Nevada in 1975. He became the #1 Ranked Junior tennis player in Southern Nevada also in 1975, as well as becoming the #3 Ranked Tennis Junior in the Intermountain Section of the United States (Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming). Along with attaining the #1 ranked doubles player that same year winning the Intermountain Sectional Championships in Colorado (with Partner Paul Petersen). George then attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas on a four-year athletic tennis Scholarship. He became the captain of the team and set some school records. He also was recognized by the Nevada Association of Realtors by being awarded their first ever Scholarship for a promising beginning Real Estate professional. He became lifelong Alumni of UNLV as well as the National Business Fraternity named Alpha Kappa Psi. George graduated with a Bachelor of Science, in Finance, with a concentration in Real Estate. He passed the Broker’s test on his first try and started full time with the Americana Group Prudential Realtors (then known as the Better Homes and Gardens American Group). He later worked for his father, then started his own company, eventually becoming involved in another start up company named Property Services, Inc. where he works today housed in the same offices his father used to have back in the 1970’s and 80’s. George has a son who is a black belt in Karate. George’s son’s mother has traveled the world professionally dancing as a ballerina and has retired after dancing as the prima ballerina with Nevada Ballet Theatre. George’s son also plays tennis, break dances, loves paintball, computer games and both father and son are amateur magicians.
