George Morrissey
George was born in Florida to an Air Force
Family, with one other sister and plenty of miniature schnauzers
around. He lived and traveled with his family’s Air
Force Career in Virginia, Alabama, Hawaii, and settling in
Las Vegas. His father was a West Point Graduate and spent
22 years in the Air Force retiring as a Lt. Col. His dad began
working as a salesman in the Real Estate business in the late
1960’s under Jack Matthews – a local Broker who
set many positive trends in Las Vegas. Col. Morrissey also
began buying some rental houses, and over the years acquired
a valuable portfolio. Young George saw many of these houses
attending showings, cleanup, and even an eviction or two over
the years growing up. Getting his first rental property in
1975 George has been involved in acquiring, renting, and helping
Clients ever since. George attended Western High School joining
the band playing cornet, the National Honor Society, and helping
the tennis team win the Nevada State Tennis Championship –
twice. He was awarded the Outstanding Teenager of the Year
for the Entire State of Nevada in 1975. He became the #1 Ranked
Junior tennis player in Southern Nevada also in 1975, as well
as becoming the #3 Ranked Tennis Junior in the Intermountain
Section of the United States (Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Idaho,
Montana and Wyoming). Along with attaining the #1 ranked doubles
player that same year winning the Intermountain Sectional
Championships in Colorado (with Partner Paul Petersen). George
then attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas on a four-year
athletic tennis Scholarship. He became the captain of the
team and set some school records. He also was recognized by
the Nevada Association of Realtors by being awarded their
first ever Scholarship for a promising beginning Real Estate
professional. He became lifelong Alumni of UNLV as well as
the National Business Fraternity named Alpha Kappa Psi. George
graduated with a Bachelor of Science, in Finance, with a concentration
in Real Estate. He passed the Broker’s test on his first
try and started full time with the Americana Group Prudential
Realtors (then known as the Better Homes and Gardens American
Group). He later worked for his father, then started his own
company, eventually becoming involved in another start up
company named Property Services, Inc. where he works today
housed in the same offices his father used to have back in
the 1970’s and 80’s. George has a son who is a
black belt in Karate. George’s son’s mother has
traveled the world professionally dancing as a ballerina and
has retired after dancing as the prima ballerina with Nevada
Ballet Theatre. George’s son also plays tennis, break
dances, loves paintball, computer games and both father and
son are amateur magicians.
